Man in the Mirror

Today on the way home from picking up the kid from school – in the tram – for the 100th time, we were surrounded by rowdy, rude and very vocal (noisy) school going teens. They are all non-whites, making a lot of noise, speaking vulgarly and putting their legs on the seats. They (the Turks, Moroccans and Africans mostly) complains about not being accepted into the society here, even though they have been here for more than 50 years. They should really look at themselves first!

They way they drive, the way they act in public, the rubbish they throw, the criminal activity they are involve in.

In the neighbourhood we live in (we live in a rough neighbourhood), every Sunday, our roads are congested with cars who decides to stop in the middle of the road just because they see someone they know and decide to strike up a convo right in the middle of the freaking road! It makes me mad when I hear them complaining of not (or never will be) being accepted by Belgians but perhaps isn’t it a good idea to look in the mirror first. Argh!

Brunch

Brunching alone with my weekly newspaper, in one of my favourite café and enjoying one of my favourite dishes there – the vegequiche with a side of fresh greens! Yum!

Season for Spiders!

The view from my bedroom window. Still don’t like them but they help to get rid of unwanted flying bugs – namely mosquitoes! So, I let them be. It is only here that I have to deal with spiders on such a large scale and to find out that there is an entire season for them – urgh! = (

Also, heard on the news that day, that because of global warming, the viviparous lizard normally only found in the southern part of the country are making appearance here in the province of Flanders = ( Great more monsters that I need to deal with and remain calm if confronted as I have to show a brave front for the kid!

It is times like these that I miss the concrete jungle that I used to lived in.

Saturday Sky

Looked up and saw the sun beautifully lighting up the sky. Makes working on a Saturday, doesn’t seem so bad after all.

On the payroll again

First day of work today.
Overwhelmed with information, papers to sign, names to remember and at the end of the day you’ll never guess what tire me out the most!

Having to take out my clothes more than 5 times today! Every time I need to go into the lab, I have to take out my ‘street wear’ and change into my lab suit,  lab socks, lab shoes, hairnet, mouth cover and gloves!

When I told my new colleague that I had to go pee – he looked at me with pity! But I am sure it will get better over time when I have master the art of timing my toilet breaks!

Wish me luck!
